Drafts and Ideas

These are some early drafts of my magazine cover and contents page, you can see when comparing them to my finish products that I had a clear design theme in mind and it was just a small number of things that were changed.

This is my first version of my contents page, the colour theme is blue and gold instead of the just gold theme that I changed for the final version. Also there is not another picture illustrating 'The Combes' band and I also added some small detailing such as a line to separate the vertical 'Regulars' and 'Features' titles and the date and website is now listen beside the model.

This is my first version of my cover the colour theme is blue and i decided to change this to gold and also there isn't as much details so I chose to make the 'bubble' smaller and then add a tagline at the bottom. I also wanted to make the top half of the cover simplier and cooler so I moved the date and price down to the bottom above the barcode aswell as changing the font and colour of these.

The design and content of my magazine is conventional of magazines within this music/fashion genre such as FHM, Attitude. It has a classy, stylish, clean and modern design which is familiar to the target audience.

Attracting/Addressing My Audience.

Click on the image to read my annotation.

Whilst the front cover is the key selling device for a magazine, I have also carefully considered the audience when writing the double page spread. I thought about the colours they would like to see and the simplicity of the layout. The model is wearing clothes I know my target audience would like and his objective gaze is cool and simple to match the personality of my readers. The language used is very casual and informal and an occasional swear word is used to relate to the reader. The pull quote has a swear word in it to really attract the reader and also mentions the word guitar as I know from my audience research that some of my target audience is cool enough to play the guitar and enjoy singing along to them at festivals, camping etc.

Magazine Title Ideas

I have decided to call my magazine 'SOUND' because the simplicity of the word reflects the minimalistic style of my layout plans. My target audience have a strong sense of contemporary style and fashion and I think my title reflects this.
